Who this notice covers
This notice covers the public website of the Centre for Non-Destructive Evaluation (CNDE), IIT Madras, including the National Consortium for Non-Destructive Evaluation (NCNDE) section.
It covers website enquiries and, when offered, newsletter subscriptions. Other IIT Madras services and external websites may have their own privacy notices.
Information we receive
You can browse the public website without creating an account. If you contact us or subscribe, we receive the information needed for that request:
- Contact enquiries: your name, email address, organisation and message, and any phone number you choose to provide.
- NCNDE enquiries: the same contact details, your organisation and its type, and the membership tier you are interested in.
- Newsletter subscriptions, when available: your email address, subscription source, confirmation and unsubscribe status, and associated dates.
- Technical information: IP addresses associated with form submissions and subscriptions, and request information recorded by the website and its hosting or security services.
- Website usage: the pages you visit, how you arrived, and your browser, device and approximate location, collected by Google Analytics through cookies.
How the information is used
We use enquiry details to respond, direct your request to the relevant team and keep a record of the conversation. Membership details help the NCNDE team discuss your organisation’s interests.
When newsletter subscriptions are available, we use your email address to confirm your subscription and send the updates you subscribed to. Technical information supports website operation, troubleshooting and protection against spam and misuse.
Please share only the information needed for your enquiry. Do not include passwords, financial account details or sensitive personal information in a website message.
Staff access and service providers
Enquiries are stored in the website’s staff inbox and may be emailed to designated CNDE or NCNDE staff. Authorised staff can review enquiries and subscriber records and export them for their work.
Hosting, email delivery and security providers process information as part of operating the website and delivering messages. Information may also be disclosed when required by applicable law or an authorised institutional process.
Security, analytics and third-party services
Cloudflare Turnstile protects public forms where it is enabled. It may process your IP address and browser or device information to distinguish legitimate visitors from automated requests. Its processing is described in Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
The website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it so we can improve it. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and receives information about your visit, such as the pages viewed, the page you came from, your browser and device type and your approximate location. Google processes this information under its own privacy policy. You can block these cookies in your browser settings or with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
Hosting and security services may still record technical request information. Following an external link takes you to a service whose own privacy practices apply.
How Google uses information from sites that use its services
Records and newsletter unsubscribe
An enquiry creates a record in the staff inbox and may also create email records. Completing or archiving an enquiry does not automatically delete it.
You can stop newsletter updates using an unsubscribe link in the emails. Unsubscribing changes your subscription status; it does not automatically erase your email address or subscription history.
Records may need to be retained for institutional administration, security or applicable record-keeping requirements. You can contact us to ask about a particular record or request its deletion.
Your choices and requests
Using an enquiry form or subscribing is voluntary. Fields marked as required are needed to process that request; optional information can be left blank.
Contact the team below to ask about information you have submitted, request a correction or deletion, or raise a privacy concern. Include the email address used for the request and enough context to locate it. We may need to verify your identity before handling a request, and applicable law or institutional record requirements may affect what can be removed.
Changes to this notice
This notice will be updated when the website’s information practices change. The date at the top identifies the latest published version.
Privacy questions or requests
